Lost Dutchman Leather is an independent leathercraft brand founded and developed by one man – Nate – based in Toledo, Ohio in 2017. With a focus on quality materials and careful craftsmanship Lost Dutchman Leather is a fantastic example of an independent brand that strives for leather goods that could last a lifetime with a classic traditional look and feel. Today we’re going to take a closer look at my favorite wallet from Lost Dutchman – The Franklin Wallet.

The Franklin wallet is a highly unique wallet. It incorporates a stitchless design which means it’s entirely seamless. This not only creates a wallet with an incredible look and feel (minimalism) but also one of greater durability as there’s less to degrade over time. The Franklin Wallet offers a single pocket in a case-like design that allows cash and cards to be stored securely with a leather flap. The Wallet is very similar to the popular Johnny Wallet, by Loyal Stricklin, which is one of my favorite wallets.

Storage is great and can be anywhere from 6 to 8 cards with ease. The single pocket is incredibly durable for peace of mind and access is easy thanks to the clever design that allows cards to be accessible from the back of the wallet. Materials-wise, the wallet is made from full-grain leather from the famed tannery Wickett & Craig. This is a beautiful leather available in a range of colors, and with a thick hide, provides great durability over time. It’ll also develop a rich beautiful patina with extended use.

As each and every wallet from Lost Dutchman Leather is handcrafted you are able to request a free Monogram of up to six characters. This is a lovely addition to any wallet as it not only makes it more personal to you or family/friends as a gift. Due to the stitchless design, the wallet can be made constructed very quickly. Because of this, Lost Dutchman Leather have accounted for this in their price with the wallet coming in at an incredibly low price tag of just $45.00 (or $30.00 for the Mini Franklin).

For a wallet handmade wallet made from the finest leather, this is probably one of the most affordable leather wallets on the market and a perfect example of how beauty and craftsmanship don’t need to break the bank.
