The Cordel Wallet Review
A Unique Folding Wallet from Portugal
Something I love exploring the innovations from small independent manufacturers. Often times these small localized brands take more risks than bigger brands so the results are often more creative, stylish, and innovative designs that often get overlooked. Today we’re going to take a closer look at the Cordel Wallet. The Cordel wallet is a wallet produced by a small Etsy brand from Portugal.
The Cordel Wallet itself is a leather wallet with a unique folding design. The wallet is completely stitchless which gives it a unique minimalist look and works by folding together which is then secured with a thin piece of elastic. The leather is premium quality vegetable-tanned leather (full-grain) and is beautiful to the touch. Over time the wallet will develop a unique patina that adds character and a distinctive vintage look and feel.
Having used the wallet for over a week now I was very impressed with its versatility and design. It can store as few as 1 cards and anywhere from up to 10+ cards, although I wouldn’t store more than 5 personally as it does bulk the wallet out and cause some strain on the elastic. The back slot is perfect for cash storage, but due to its design, can also be used for the likes of coins as it creates a lovely secure pocket.
The only downside to the Cordel Wallet is its choice of elastic. It’s quite thin and of poor quality especially when compared to the choice of leather which is amazing quality. It feels weak and thin and over time it could easily wear down and snap. Overall, I was very impressed with the Cordel Wallet. Coming in at just $37.40 is of high quality and great value for money.
