Allett was founded in 1995 in San Diego, California by engineer Ken Obensky, who designed the original wallet after suffering back pain and sciatic nerve damage caused by sitting on a bulky wallet. The patented bifold design quickly became known as 'the world's thinnest wallet' and earned coverage in The New York Times, NPR, and The Wall Street Journal. The company is still family-owned and operated, now run by siblings Adam and Bridget Muscat, with all wallets still designed and manufactured in San Diego. Allett's range now includes nylon, leather, and RFID-blocking models.
