Sometimes simplicity is the best and the Roam Wallet is designed to achieve precisely this. I discovered the Roam Wallet when looking for a cheap and durable wallet, which would provide me with great duality when going on long walks through the mountains. The Roam Wallet immediately caught my eye. Not just because of its affordability, but by its minimalist design and innovative layout. Let’s dive right into the Roam Wallet, what it can offer you and whether or not it’s worth a place in your back pocket.

The first thing to note about the Roam is what it’s trying to achieve. Sized at just slightly larger than a standard credit card, its tiny form factor is a great size for people looking to carry less and want a comfortable non-intrusive everyday carry experience. The design of the wallet is also worth talking about as it’s designed in a way where everything is easily accessible without the need to unfold or open up your wallet – easy accessibility is key here.

In total, the Roam Wallet has three individual card slots which allow for storage of up to 3 – 6 credit/debit cards (2 in each slot). As these are the only slots cash doesn’t have a dedicated space but can be stored within one of the available slots easily and securely. Along with the slots, and thanks to the wallet’s material, a tight yet flexible elastic, allows the wallet to stretch and store a passport or travel documents if you so wish.

An attachment loop is also provided along with a carabiner. This is a great addition and showcases how the guys at Roam are targeting a more active audience for this wallet. The roam wallet can be attached to a belt or the loop could be used to hold a key or even attached to a lanyard – amazing versatility. Finally, the Roam Wallet also comes with a pen holder, another unique feature, which can secure any sized pen within an elasticated slot (only available with the premium version).

Overall, I was very happy with the Roam Wallet. Its simplicity shines though, but its well throughout design with loop means it does more than most minimalist wallets on the market today. It’s definitely not a premium wallet in its look or feel, but at a price tag of just $12.00 what do you expect? The range of designs, with beautiful mountain scenes, is unique and its durability is great thanks to its use of durable elastic (which can also be washed).
