Ridge Leather Wallet

Launch, Specs, Offers & Unboxing

The NEW Leather Ridge is here! See for yourself the latest wallet from Ridge as they combined the traditional leather wallet with the innovation of The Metal Ridge.

Ridge has long been celebrated for their commitment to creating innovative wallets that combine sleek aesthetics with remarkable functionality. But one thing they’ve never been able to compete against was the humble leather wallet. A style dating back hundreds of years – until today. Ridge has finally created a wallet that combines both the innovation that first propelled them to fame and the traditional aesthetics of a leather wallet.

This so-called ‘Ridge Leather’ is the first of its kind and according to Ridge was the best part of 18+ months of development, testing, and a patent pending process. The wallet retains what we all know, love, and come to expect from the Ridge Wallet but deviates with both sides of the Ridge’s metal being covered in soft full-grain leather. Oil-waxed and ready to go, the leather Ridge was built to use over long periods of time with it eventually developing a beautiful leather patina as daily wear causes the leather to change developing its own color, texture, and unique appearance.

Our First Look and Unboxings of the two new Ridge Leather Wallets

Ridge Leather Wallet: First Impressions

Ridge was happy to send us both versions of the Leather Ridge to try, use and test out. This includes the Midnight Black Leather and Tobacco Brown Leather versions. I was very excited to unbox the Ridge Leather and I plan to use it over the next 6 months to see how it performs and to really gauge how well both the leather holds up and how the patina develops over time. My first impressions were very good.

So aside from the leather, what else is different about this new Ridge Wallet? The first thing to mention is the cash strap included with the Ridge Leather Wallet is slightly different from the traditional Ridge also including a strap made from full-grain leather. Personally, this is a big upgrade as the soft leather is much more gentle on your cards and won’t cause them to wear over time or rub against the metal.

This Ridge also doesn’t include a metal money clip (that can be replaced with the cash strap) that is standard with most Ridge Wallets. I’d imagine this was done as the harsh metal could rub against the leather and cause it to degrade faster but could be seen as a disadvantage to many. I also thought at first that the thicker full-grain leather might cause the wallet to be larger in size – I was right but not by much. The original size of the Ridge comes in at 86 x 54 x 6 mm (this is without any cards/cash) while the Leather version has just a few extra millimeters on top of that. Finally, the Ridge still includes its trademark logo on the front of the wallet but this time it’s embossed directly into the leather. This is a really nice touch and provides a touch of class to the wallet.

Overall, my first impressions of the new Ridge Leather Wallet were fantastic and it goes to show that Ridge hasn’t lost it when it comes to innovation and ingenuity in design. The Ridge Leather is the perfect combination of modern design and traditional aesthetics allowing you to get the best of both worlds. The Wallet functions exactly the same as the standard Ridge with very few differences aside from a few minor details. The leather is beautiful to look at has a wonderfully smooth feel to the touch and is of the highest quality when in comparison to other leather wallets.
