Ekster Aluminum Wallet Review

[Buyers Guide 2023]

Ekster is by far one of the most recognized wallet brands in the world and considering they only came into existence back in 2016 is an impressive fest. Ekster as a brand provides an innovative balance between both design and innovation creating a range of wallets, and other EDC goods, that have a very traditional/vintage look, yet use modern 21st-century features in their designs.

Today we’re going to look at the Ekster Aluminium Wallet (also referred to as the aluminum cardholder) which is one of Eksters cheaper wallets and a stripped-back version of the award-winning and popular Parliament Wallet. So what can the Aluminum wallet by ekster offer you? And how does it compare to other wallets by Ekster? Let’s find out.

Look & Design

As the name suggests the aluminum cardholder by Ekster is a full metal cardholder case made from a strong and durable Space-grade 6061-T6 aluminum. This creates a lightweight carry experience while also providing fantastic durability and strength. The aluminum has a brushed finish to provide, what I feel, is a premium look and feel, and is available in a large array of different color/design offerings including 9 different colors (red, blue, green, pink, gold) and 5 patternations (including camo, brushed silver and forged ember).

One of the main selling points of the Ekster Aluminum wallet is its incredibly thin and compact size. Measuring just 0.75 x 10.5 x 6 cm, this wallet is far smaller than most traditional wallets on the market including those by many popular brands. This size makes the wallet very comfortable in either a front or back pocket for a great carry experience.

Overall the Ekster cardholder is a pleasure to look at, use, and hold. It really does ooze quality thanks to its premium metal and ultra-clean minimalist design.

Functionality & Utility

The functionality of the Ekster Cardholder is fairly simple. The mechanism for card storage and access is the same as with other wallets in the Ekster range. Using what’s commonly referred to as a pop-up, or cascading card mechanism, credit/debit cards can be stored within an internal compartment and accessed through a push of a button. This button activates a clever system by which cards are automatically ejected and perfected spread out in a way where you can easily grab each individual card with ease. In total, the metal cardholder can store up to 6 cards.

For cash storage, the cardholder is wrapped in a durable yet elasticated strap that enables you to effortlessly slide folded banknotes under. This is a pretty basic and common way of storing cash in these styles of wallets but it does work and helps keep the wallet to a minimal size. Additional cards can be stored under the cash strap if you wish to further expand the wallet’s storage (up to 9 cards).

To say the Ekster Cardholder is simple in design is an understatement. After all, the wallet is made for those people who want a very minimal everyday carry the experience with little frills keeping things simple. The wallet is best suited for those who carry very little and want to keep their wallet well organized.

Price Tag & Value

The Ekster aluminum card holder comes in at a price tag of $79.00. Compared to other wallets in the sky range, this wallet lies on the lower end of the price spectrum and is a great budget wallet for people who want to save more.

Compared to other similar style wallets on the market, the sky does come in at a slight premium and is more expensive. That being said, let’s get renowned for their incredible quality, ability, and attention to detail. They also have ethical business practices with much emphasis on sustainability and climate action which can contribute to higher prices.

Below is a comparison of the Ekster wallet range and where they rank in terms of price tag and value for money. Ekster also has its own comparison chart which can be found on its official website here.
