Founded in 2015, Walli Wearables was one of the very first smart wallet brands to rise to fame after becoming one of the most successfully funded wallets on Kickstarter at the time having raised over $200,000 in capital. Founded on the idea and philosophy of bringing the traditional men’s wallet into the 21st century they provide a range of wallets with a huge variety of technology-infused features.
From the initial success of the Original Walli Smart Wallet, Walli Wearables have gone on to develop a wallet that further fits the need of the modern-day man. The Walli Slim Wallet is a smart wallet that takes a compact size while still providing all the much-needed functionality of cash and card storage with included smart features. Let’s now take a look at Walli Slim Wallet and discover if it’s the right wallet for you.
Look & Design
Having reviewed many smart wallets in my time, the biggest design factor that makes the Walli Slim Wallet stand above the rest is its tiny, minimalist size coming in at just 8.28 cm x 10 cm x 0.47cm. This makes the wallet only really slightly larger than a typical credit/debit card and considering the wallet is packed with technology that makes the smart features work, this is an incredible design feat.
Its material is also worth mentioning is made from premium full-grain leather that has a soft and supple feel, yet one of the highest durability thanks to using one of the highest grains of leathers on the market (full grain). Along with this, such aspects of the wallet including its build quality and stitching are very well crafted and sure to last a long time.
Finally, the Walli Slim Wallet is available in 2 different color options including a light tan (a lighter shade of brown) and a darker brown. Both give a very traditional feel to the wallet and as the wallet develops a leather patina over time (click here for info on what a patina is) the wallet really takes on a beautiful timeless look that simply gets better with age.
Functionality & Utility
Like any slimline wallet, functionality is always going to be less than a larger wallet. That being said, Walli Wearables have done a great job of maximizing space and utility considering its smaller size. In total, the Walli Slim Wallet has 4 dedicated card slots, 3 on one side of the wallet and another running diagonally on the reverse side. Each card slot can store at least 1 credit/debit card each, but you might want to reserve one card slot for storing Banknotes. Cards slots were a little tight, to begin with when first used, but some loosen up as you use it more. And with that, can eventually store more than 1 card per slot for a maximum of 2 each.
The smart features of the wallet are fantastic and provide everything you’d expect from a smart wallet in 2022. The wallet’s smart features are run by a small device embedded inside the wallet that can’t be removed. This means you don’t need to fiddle around with any technical aspects of the wallet, or daily charging, as the wallet can last up to 6 months on a single charge and are easily replaceable.
Other smart features of the Walli Slim Wallet include the following:
- Wallet GPS Tracking: If you’re prone to losing your wallet then having GPS Tracking capability, to find its relative position when lost, can be an invaluable tool to help prevent theft or loss of your belongings.
- Ring Your Wallet: With the simple press of a button, you’ll be able to ring your wallet from the Walli App and find the location of your wallet. Great for if you’re in a rush and can’t find your wallet in your home.
- Find Your Phone: This feature also works in reverse. If you can’t find your phone, you can use the wallet to ring it enabling you to track its location.
- RFID Security: A must-have in any modern-day wallet. RFID Security, or blocking, prevents the ever-increasing prospects of contactless skimming prevents criminals from activating your credit/debit cards
- Emergency Contacts: You can set up and share your live GPS location instantly with your emergency contact by pressing on the “W” logo on the wallet twice.
Walli App Set-Up
The setup of the Walli Slim Wallet is incredibly simple with Walli Wearables streamlining the process to make it as streamlined as possible. Being available on both IOS and Android to successfully set up your smart wallet all you need to do is download the app, and follow a basic three-step process that involves turning on your Bluetooth, giving permissions for GPS tracking, and testing to see if everything works. It’s that simple and by far one of the easiest Smart Wallet App I’ve had the privilege of using.
Having used it for a number of months now I found the entire app worked very well. I never had an issue with the app crashing or simply not responding and the development team seems to be on point with continuously updating the app to solve any issues raised by the community. Final Verdict
Overall, I was incredibly impressed with the versatility and design of the Walli slim wallet. When it comes to wanting both a compact design and smart features including GPS tracking, then I don’t know if there’s a better choice on the market at present.
Not only this, but the Wally slim wallet is also incredibly affordable compared to many alternative smart wallets on the market. Starting at a price tag of $59.00 the wallet is priced incredibly well and is even within the budgets of those who don’t want to spend typically hundreds of dollars on a small wallet - incredible value in my opinion.
