Thread Wallet Review

The Thread Wallet is something of a little hidden gem in the wallet world. A simple, not expensive wallet that does everything you need in a neat little package. Thread Wallets are also continually innovative and provide a range of optional extras to expand your wallet’s functionality while also providing a wide array of customization and personalization options so you can really find a wallet unique to you. 

Thread Wallets began back in 2015 and were created as they lacked a wallet that allowed for the expression of one’s own unique identity. Wallets are traditionally boring. Think of your wallet current and what it looks like. Perhaps it’s black or brown and has got as much charm as a disused chips packet. The simplicity of the Thread Wallet is what makes it stand out from the crowd. Its entire design is made from a durable tight-knit elastic that is both strong and stretchy. The use of elastic in a wallet is not uncommon. It’s a highly effective material as it’s not only lightweight but also durable and can be easily cleaned (unlike leather). 

Along with this, Elastic can easily be printed on which gives way to the huge variety of different customization options available by Thread Wallets. On a quick count, there are over 32 different designs to choose from ranging from excentric patternations to solid colors. Below are just a few different examples of some of our favorite designs that we think are really unique. 

Size is also a big consideration when it comes to purchasing a new wallet. Over the past decade, wallets have been shrinking in size mainly due to the increased use of contactless and debit card payments which cash falling out of fashion. The Thread Wallet is a perfect size for people looking to only carry the essentials with sizes coming in at 7 cm x 5.5 cm. 

Functionality & Utility 

With an emphasis on minimalism, the Thread Wallet has minimal functionality with only the essentials included for maximizing its smaller size. If you’re the type of person who likes to carry lots of cards, cash, and other items (like photos, receipts, etc..) then the Thread Wallet probably isn’t for you. 

The wallet is split up into two main slots. An upper slot is accessed through the top, and two are both located at the sizes of the wallet. In total, the wallet can store anywhere from as little as 2 cards up to 8. Cash can be stored in one of these three slots (the smaller front ones) but has to be folded to fit snugly. Each wallet also comes with a Built-in keyring, or attachment loop, which allows you to store keys, or attach a lanyard. 

And that’s really it. These styles of wallets are really easy to use and access cards thanks to the elastic material. The stretchiness of the material makes it a joy to use and I had no trouble accessing the cards I needed when on the move.

Another great aspect of Thread Wallets is their array of accessories that allow you to expand upon the functionality of the wallet and further create a wallet you’ll love. One of our favorite accessories is Thread’s Wrist Lanyards. These small, high-quality lanyards can be attached to the included loop on every wallet and will keep you organized and moving no matter where life takes you. Again these are high quality, made from a combination of polyester, leather, and metal, and come in at only $11.00 each. 

Other accessories, not related to the Thread Wallet at all, include Lip Balm Holders, AirPod Cases, and Keychains. These can all be purchased in the same design so you can have synergy between all your everyday carry items. If you wanted to mix and max your order by purchasing one of everything (wallet, lanyard, lip balm, and AirPods case) the total price would be around $50.00 which is still much cheaper than many individual wallets on the market today – an absolute bargain if you ask me. 

Final Verdict

The price of the Thread Wallet might be one of the most attractive aspects of this wallet. At only $16.00 the wallet is one of the cheapest on the market that also retains quality and style. What I like about the Thread wallet is it doesn’t try to be something it’s not. 

At the end of the day, it’s just a simple minimalist wallet with a range of amazing colors and patterns to choose from. This wallet is best for someone with a keen desire for excentric colors and who loves the vibrant nature of the wallets.
