The Trayvax Contour Wallet Review
If you’re looking for a wallet with personality, unique design and functionality to match then you can do a lot worse than the Trayvax Contour Wallet. Trayvax has built a name on the fact they provide innovative tactical, also dubbed EDC, wallets with functionality for outdoor situations like when camping or doing extreme sports.
Trayvax first came onto the scene in 2013 with a goal to create a product to cut down on plastic waste and a humble goal to tackle the issues surrounding climate change. Through innovation, he turned this dream into a reality with the first Trayvax wallet. From here the brand has gone onto create a range of fantastic wallets that stick to these core principles. A wallet that can withstand the toughest conditions while offering the top utility comparable to any on the market.
Today, we’re going to be taking a look at one of their most popular wallets – the Trayvax Contour wallet. This wallet, like others in their range, combined metal and wood to create a top-notch wallet with a distinctive design and functionality to match. Let’s now break down what the Contour wallet has to offer.
Look & Design
Although it’s an individual preference I really like the look of the Trayvax Contour. The wallet is designed in an odd way like an almost metal frame with pieces sticking out in all directions to provide a variety of different functionality. On top of that, the Contour is wrapped in a premium Horween leather that feels great in the hand and is very durable in daily use. Let’s not forget the wallet’s minimalist size also. This wallet is perfect for those looking to slim down their EDC with the Trayvax coming in at just 3.8 inches x 2.4 inches.
With the Trayvax Contour, you also get a choice of metals to choose from depending on your individual look (color change) or the price tag. The wallet is available in either Titanium (most expensive) brass or stainless steel. Each looks fantastic in their own right but also provide differing levels of durability and weight. Your choice is probably going to be dictated by the price as the wallet does differ significantly depending on the choice you make.
Functionality & Utility
Along with its distinctive design, the Trayvax Contour also has a range of great functionality to meet the needs of most people. The wallet has a capacity for up to 13 cards and enough room for 10 bills folded and secured by the straps. Another with the standard functionality of any wallet, the Contour also provides a range of unique functions not usually seen in a wallet.
The first is the inclusion of an integrated bottle opener cut directly into the machined engineered metal frame. This feature is cleverly integrated into the wallet as it doesn’t obstruct any other feature and if you don’t ever use it doesn’t comprise the other features of the wallet. The wallet also comes with an attachment point. This is a protruding piece of metal with a circular cutout to attach other items from rope to a chain. Finally, the wallet has a Torx wrench included which really shows how the wallet’s trying to target those more ‘hands-on’ people who might need tools when out on a daily basis.
The only off-putting thing about the Trayvax Contour wallet is its price. Coming in at a standard price of $139.99 the wallet is on the upper end of the price scale and can skyrocket to $200.00 depending on the choice of metal. Some might say this is a bit expensive considering the size of the wallet but keep in mind this wallet is engineered to the highest quality and is the type of wallet you buy for life. It really depends on your individual preferences for the unique features of the Trayvax Contour. The choice is really yours.
Overall the Trayvax Contour is a fantastic little wallet. The look and feel are like nothing I’ve come across before in a wallet and its functionality is fantastic considering the wallet’s smaller size. The price tag is something that’s going to stop a lot of people from purchasing this wallet but with a 65-year ‘heirloom’ warranty this is a wallet for life and the only wallet you’ll ever need again. Not so Good
