Secrid's Latest Collection Is Their Boldest Yet
From serpent scales to tactile pyramids and high-gloss leather, the Dutch brand is pushing further into design territory than ever before.
Secrid has always been a brand defined by restraint. Clean lines, considered materials, made in Europe, built to last. Their core product, the Cardprotector, has barely changed since René van Geer and Marianne van Sasse van IJsselt first developed the pop-up mechanism. That consistency is part of what makes their latest collection so striking. This is Secrid in a more expressive mood than we have seen before.
The new releases span several wallet formats across the range including the Slim, Mini, Band, and the recently launched Flex Wallet, introducing a distinct array of new designs. Each one sits comfortably within Secrid’s Premium+ collection, and the tanneries and materials behind them are as carefully chosen as you would expect. Here are just a few of my personal favorite wallets in this new collection that caught my eye.
The Naplak Envelope Wallet
The standout for me is the Envelope Wallet in Naplak leather. Naplak is a high-gloss leather. The material has a semi-mirror shine to it that is immediately distinctive: not patent leather in the traditional sense, but something with more depth and movement to it. Move it and it catches the light. The result, particularly in the plum colorway, looks like it belongs on a fashion runway as much as in a wallet collection.
The Envelope Wallet itself is a fairly recent release from Secrid, and one of their first wallets to include an integrated coin compartment, which unfolds to reveal storage for coins, keys, jewelry, and other small items alongside the standard card and cash capacity.
The Pyramid Design
The Pyramid Miniwallet takes a different approach, working with texture rather than shine. The surface is covered in a repeating diamond-shaped emboss pattern in shades of grey, and each individual diamond is three-dimensionally raised rather than flat, creating what Secrid describe as a special tactile experience. It is the kind of wallet that rewards picking up and handling in a way that most wallets simply do not. Priced at $115.
There is something very deliberate about a design like this. It is not trying to be subtle. It is a wallet that is designed to be noticed and felt, and whether it is to your taste or not, the execution is excellent.
The Serpent Design
The Serpent Miniwallet is probably the most visually striking of the three. Available in green and purple, the leather texture takes direct inspiration from snake scales, with a pattern of overlapping geometric shapes in varying tones that shifts across the surface of the wallet. Because the pattern is produced naturally through the tanning process rather than printed, each individual wallet comes out slightly differently. No two are identical.
That uniqueness is significant. For a brand that produces wallets at the volume Secrid does, creating a design where every piece is genuinely one of a kind is an unusual and welcome choice. The Serpent Miniwallet is priced at $130.

Secrid’s design output has been impressive for years, and considering every wallet in their range is designed in the Netherlands and assembled in their Dutch workshops, the volume and variety of what they release is remarkable. This latest collection is their boldest step yet in terms of aesthetics, and it is a reminder that functionality and design ambition do not have to be in competition with each other.
