The world of trackers has been dominated by just a small number of brands over the years. Apple, with its famed AirTag, and small brands Chipolo and Tile. Sure, more have come and gone, but that’s been very constant in the tracking space for a long time. That is until today. It’s rare I get excited by a product but with the launch of the new micro wallet finder by wallet brand dynomighty, there might just be a new kid in town hoping to disrupt the tracker market for the better and shake things up. The guys at Dynomighty were happy enough to send me across an early pre-production version of the Micro Wallet Finder and I've had the pleasure of using it for a few weeks now. Let’s dig into what it offers, and whether or not you should consider backing this new tracker on Kickstarter.

Dynomighty: An unexpected tracker from an unexpected brand

Dynomighty as a brand has been on my radar for a number of years. I first came across them back in 2016 when I first started collecting wallets and found their unique line of paper wallets something of a wonderful oddity. Yes, you heard that right, Duynomighty produces a small but intriguing range of wallets made from a ‘paper like’ material called Tyvek. Tyvek looks and feels like paper but has some properties that improve it including increased durability, tear resistance and water resistance.

The company was founded by designer Terrence Kelleman in the early 2000s, and it gained fame with the Mighty Wallet – the original Tyvek® wallet invented in 2005. They were innovating in the space before the Kickstarter wallet craze, producing minimalist style wallets way before the likes of Ridge, or Ekster came along.

The Mighty Wallet’s ultrathin, stitchless origami construction was a hit, spawning an entire genre of Tyvek wallets worldwide. Over the years, Dynomighty has built a reputation for minimalist and creative designs, selling hundreds of unique wallet designs and inspiring many imitators. This philosophy of slim, innovative carry items continues today as Dynomighty expands into tech-integrated products like the new Micro Wallet Finder.

Introducing the Micro Wallet Finder

So what exactly is the Micro Wallet Finder? The Micro Wallet Finder is a credit-card shaped smart device that provides “total wallet security”, acting as a wallet finder and a security tool. It’s packed with features in a micro-thin design.

It’s best to compare it to the most popular product on the market to date that does something similar - Apple’s own AirTag. Now AirTag’s weren’t anything new to the market, but they did propel this technology into the public eye and put it on the radar of millions of Apple users across the world.

AirTags work by using a combination of Bluetooth and Apple’s vast Find My network, which crowdsources location data from millions of iPhones, iPads, and Macs around the world. Each AirTag sends out a secure Bluetooth signal that nearby Apple devices can detect. These devices then anonymously relay the AirTag’s location back to the owner through iCloud. This means you can track lost items on a map in real time, even if your AirTag is far away from you.

The technology relies on end-to-end encryption, so no one, not even Apple, knows the identity of the reporting devices or the location of your AirTag except you. At its core this is what the Micro Wallet Finder does as well as an Apple-certified Find My accessory; it uses the same app that an AirTag would use.

Functionality & Features: What makes the Micro Wallet Finder different

So in terms of tracking the Micro Wallet Finder works in the exact same way as Apple’s AirTag and any other ‘Find my Device’ compatible device. But where the Micro Wallet stands out against the competition is with some pretty unique design features and added functionality. Let’s now talk about what  the Micro Wallet Finder does to make it stand above the rest.

The first thing we must note is how thin the Micro Wallet Finder is and as you can see from the images its shape. Obviously the design of this card has been shaped like a traditional credit or debit card matching their dimensions perfectly at 54mm and 85mm, while coming in slightly thicker at 2mm. Regardless of its slightly thicker size (which is around 3 cards worth of thickness), the card fits perfectly in the majority of wallets that most people own.

I tried storing the wallet in the Ridge, The Bellroy Note Sleeve (a traditional sized bi fold) and of course dynomighty’s own Mighty Wallet and they all fit perfectly. The only style of wallet the Micro Wallet Finder won’t fit in is a typical pop-up wallet such as the Secrid or Ekster. Try and fit this inside a pop-up mechanism and it’s going to get stuck - so please don’t attempt to take that burden for you.

Another feature of the Micro Wallet Card, that is fairly unique and not offered by all alternatives on the market is Rechargeable Battery with wireless Qi charging support. A full charge (about 1.5 hours) lasts up to 8 months of standby use. At present I can’t test this claim out (because i’ve not owned the card long enough) but in my few weeks using the tracker i’ve had no issue with battery - so a great start.

In the past few years my choice of tracker in the past has been the Tile range of trackers.  This includes the Tile Slim which as another credit card shaped tracker doesn’t come with any charging capabilities. This means that once it dies - that’s it - you can’t recharge it and it becomes useless. This is why the Micro Wallet Tracker is so compelling as it’s something that can be considered a long term investment and can be used indefinitely as far as i’ve concerned - amazing stuff.

The next feature worth talking about is the trackers Audible Alarm and Volume. This is very common in most trackers but is definitely considered a must. The card has a built-in speaker to play sounds when you trigger a search or when certain alerts go off. It’s rated at 80–100 dB volume, which is quite loud for such a tiny device – loud enough to hear from deep in couch cushions. This helps you quickly locate your wallet by sound. (It also uses sound for its RFID alarm feature, described next.)

Speaking of RFID, the Micro Wallet Finder doubles as an active RFID blocker/jammer for your contactless payment cards. In a wallet, it can act like a RFID-blocking card to prevent unauthorized scans of your credit cards (protection against “skimming”). More impressively, it has an audible alarm that instantly alerts you if someone attempts to scan your wallet contents. Now I’ve talked frequently in the past about whether having RFID as a feature in a wallet is actually worth it, or something you should even care about?

Statistics show that this crime is very rare and instances of this crime occurring across the world is so low that the chances of it happening to you are basically zero. That doesn’t make the feature useless, it’s nice to have, but just keep in mind the crime of card skimming is basically not something you should worry about on a daily basis.

The Micro Wallet Finder has a QR code feature serving two purposes. First, it works as a Lost & Found contact system: if someone finds your lost wallet, they can simply scan the QR code on the card. Scanning it will instantly notify you (the owner) and share the wallet’s last geo-location, and it opens a secure chat channel so you can communicate with the finder.

This works even if the person doesn’t directly share their location – you still get the nearest location and a way to chat. It’s a privacy-conscious system: you remain anonymous and can choose what info to share in order to get your wallet back.

Second, you can also use the QR code as a digital business card. You can program it with your contact info or social links, and when you meet someone, they can scan your wallet’s QR to instantly get whatever details you choose to share.

Because you control the data behind the QR code via an online profile, you can update or limit what information is given out – offering more privacy control than a traditional business card. This dual functionality (finder info + contact sharing) via a simple QR code is a unique perk of Dynomighty’s solution.

Final Verdict: Is the Micro Wallet Finder worth it?

So having used the Micro Wallet Finder for around 2-3 weeks at this point and so far i’ve been very impressed. The card just works, it works perfectly in terms of its tracking capabilities with all additional features being a nice option to have. I’m partially fond of the business card capabilities and in the future it would be awesome if Dynomighty included NFC Technology in the tracker which would basically make this a glorified NFC Business Card

Dynomighty’s Micro Wallet Finder is not just a Bluetooth tracker – it’s a multi-purpose digital wallet card. It combines the tracking capabilities of an AirTag-like device (using Apple’s network for finding items) with security features like RFID skimming protection and a built-in lost-and-found system with QR code.

All of this is delivered in an extremely slim, wallet-friendly form factor. It reflects Dynomighty’s long-running focus on minimalism and innovation – much like their original Tyvek wallets, which prioritized thinness and utility. The Micro Wallet Finder is currently a new product (as of 2025) being launched via Kickstarter, so it’s poised to enter the market and compete with established players.

Currently the Micro Wallet Finder can be found on Kickstarter and has currently already surpassed its crowdfunding goal meaning it will succeed. Pledges start at $35.00 which’ll get you one tracker card at a 30% off discount. This makes the Finder’s RRP around $45.00. How does this price compare to other trackers on the market?

Well an AirTag will set you back around $35.00, while the tile Slim at $30.00 and the Chipolo Card at $35.00. So the Micro Wallet Finder is slightly more expensive than other card style trackers on the market, but in the same vein, offers far superior functionality. So to me, this slightly elevated price is worth every penny and honestly I think if you’re in the market for a new tracker then the Wallet Finder by Dynomighty is an amazing choice.
