This type of design isn’t new. I’ve used plenty of hard case wallets before, from the metal-clad options by Ogon Smart Cases to the popular Flipside Wallet, both of which are solid choices. Where the Slim Mint stands apart is in its internal layout. Inside, there’s a hinged plastic flap in the centre that adds an extra layer of organisation and storage - ideal if you’re carrying a few more cards than usual. The wallet stays securely shut with a snap clip and opens via a push-button on the front, making access quick while keeping everything locked down when closed.

Use in Daily Life

I used the Slim Mint wallet for just over a month, and my first impressions were actually pretty positive. The layout is intuitive, and day-to-day use, taking cards in and out, was smooth and hassle-free. The plastic flap anchored in the centre is an interesting idea, adding a second layer of card storage. But in practice, it feels more like a gimmick. It tends to get in the way, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it wore down or snapped off over time with regular use.

Another issue I ran into was capacity. The product listing talks up how much the Slim Mint can hold, but in reality, I struggled to comfortably fit more than 4 or 5 cards. Pushing beyond that felt like forcing it - and with a plastic case, that’s not something you want to do. The same goes for banknotes. The Slim Mint Wallet is a nice idea, but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. While it claims to use high-quality materials, in reality the wallet feels flimsy and poorly made. I found myself handling it carefully, almost nervously, because it genuinely felt like it could snap with a bit of pressure. When I went back and reread the product description, I honestly couldn’t believe how exaggerated some of the claims were. Most of them only hold up if you really push the wallet to its limits, which defeats the point.

The material feels cheap, and the overall build doesn’t inspire confidence. The use of plastic for the hinges is a major flaw - one bad bend and you’re done. Add to that the underwhelming storage capacity, and it just doesn’t deliver on its promises. To top it off, it’s not even that slim. Despite the name, it’s bulkier than you’d expect and completely unsuitable for a front pocket if you’re wearing anything remotely fitted.

It’s frustrating because the concept is close to being decent. A simple upgrade in materials, especially for the hinges, and a more realistic approach to capacity would go a long way. But as it stands, it’s not something I’d recommend- even at a low price of just $24.99. The product page oversells it massively, and judging by the negative Amazon reviews, I’m not the only one who felt misled.
