With the announcement of the new iPhone Duo, it is fair to say we are about to see a whole new host of MagSafe compatible wallets, all built with the Duo in mind. One of the first I have personally come across is Frenchie Co's, the brand most famous for their Frenchie Speed Wallet, and it caught my attention.

What I personally love about this wallet is its durability. Most MagSafe wallets I use are built for size, being as small as physically possible, while the clever design of the Speed Wallet takes a well balanced best of both worlds approach, where the size stays small but the capacity is not necessarily inhibited.

Rebuilt From Scratch for Apple’s Folding Phone

Frenchie Co have upgraded the wallet specifically for the iPhone Duo. The idea is that it carries six cards on the back of a folding phone, with your four most-used coming up together with a single pull, one-handed, and the wallet never has to leave the phone.

The remaining two ride inside for the bits you carry but rarely reach for, each sitting with a corner showing so you can slide it out by hand. Open the cover and it will hold the Duo at whatever angle you set it to, and because it mounts on the MagSafe ring you can rotate it to stand the phone upright or on its side.

The Part Most MagSafe Wallets Get Wrong

The detail that stands out to me is how they have dealt with cases, because this is where a lot of MagSafe wallets fall down. Protective cases raise the Duo’s camera housing enough to push a wallet down past the bottom edge of the phone, which is exactly the sort of thing that ruins the fit.

Frenchie Co say they sized this one against the thickest case they could find and placed the magnets to match, so it sits where it should whether you run a case or not. There is even a grip trick to it: with the Duo folded you open the cover halfway, slide your fingers in, and it will take the weight of the phone.

Slim Enough to Forget It Is There

On the spec side, Frenchie Co put it at 52.9g, which they point out is about a fifth of the Duo’s own 254g. It stands 91mm tall, sized against those high-protection cases so it stays clear of the bottom edge, 63mm wide so it never hangs over the sides of the phone, and 9mm thick, expanding as you load it up to its six-card capacity. The whole thing is wrapped in full-grain Italian leather, handcrafted in small batches, and it is compatible with every MagSafe iPhone from the 12 onward, with or without a case.

How to Get Your Hands on One

The Speed Wallet is up for pre-order now and ships in four to six weeks. If you order it alongside anything in stock, Frenchie Co say they will ship the order complete once the pre-order is ready. It comes with their 100% satisfaction or money back guarantee and worldwide shipping. I am keen to get my hands on one, so keep an eye out for a full review down the line.
