The creators of the ZEE Wallet say they were frustrated by bulky, overpriced wallets that don’t fit modern life. Their answer was twofold: design a wallet that is slim, stylish, and durable, and make it accessible to everyone through flexible pricing.
The “Pay What You Want” model may feel unusual, especially for a premium leather wallet, but the thinking behind it is clear. Rather than limiting the product to those willing to pay a set premium, ZEE aims to build an inclusive community of backers who can choose their own level of support.

This is a pretty novel idea and reminds me of a classic ‘pay for what you think a meal is worth’ style resturant. But is it practical in reality? Only time will tell and with only around $2,000 pledged its hard to know if this style of payment would work with little backers.

One of the standout features of the ZEE Wallet is its material. While most wallets are made from cowhide, ZEE uses full-grain camel leather, a rare but exceptional alternative. Camels develop dense, irregular fiber structures to survive in harsh desert climates, making their hides naturally abrasion-resistant, flexible, and tough.
This strength is enhanced with a 100% pure beeswax coating, which improves scratch resistance and adds protection against pocket humidity. Finished with natural silk stitching, each wallet is designed to last while developing a rich patina over time. I can’t say i’ve ever had the prividage of using Camel Leather but i do have quarms over the ethical use of this leather - as I do with all exotic leather.
It would be good if the team behind ZEE Wallet would clarify how and where this leather is sourced. They only mention ‘Camel leather is very sustainable and biodegradable material’ on their website and this doesn’t mean much without the evidence to back it up.
The ZEE Wallet is more than just materials and pricing philosophy - it’s also engineered to perform. Measuring only 80 × 105 × 7 mm (3.1 × 4.1 × 0.3 in), it maintains an ultra-slim profile that easily fits into front or back pockets. Despite its compact size, the wallet holds 5–6 cards plus cash, offering everyday practicality without bulk.
It also has a unique lever style opening where the top of the wallet can be opened much like how you’d open a cigarette lighter - flip top. The wallet is avialable in 3 colors including green, amber and ironstone.
A Kickstarter That Challenges Convention
