The Peeler Is a Wallet Made Entirely From Silicone
A stripped-back, single-piece design that swaps leather for water resistance, grip and a wallet you can rinse under the tap.
Silicone is an underrated material in the world of wallets. It is not exactly uncommon, but it is usually reserved for a simple strap for storing cash. So when I stumbled across the Peeler wallet it immediately caught my attention, thanks to a design made entirely from a single piece of flexible silicone. Because of that, the Peeler has a really stripped back and clean look, which is one I am a big fan of. The material brings a lot of great properties too, ones that stand out from the crowd outside of leather: water resistance, very easy cleaning and increased durability, just to name a few.
Why Silicone Deserves a Spot in Your Pocket
Peeler describe it as a reimagined wallet for effortless, durable comfort, molded from silicone to make the most of everything the material has going for it. By their account it is lightweight, soft, flexible and exceptionally durable, resistant to UV rays, stains and odors, with a grippy texture, and it will not break down into microplastics. For a wallet you can rinse under a tap and forget about, that is a genuinely appealing pitch, and it is the sort of thing leather simply cannot offer.
A Design Stripped Back to the Essentials
The design itself is about as simple as it gets. Two slots, one on the side and a smaller one on the back, with one holding cash and the other your cards. Capacity is decent for the size, too. Peeler reckon the cash pocket takes around 15 bills, with fins along the opening to keep them secure, while the card pocket holds 8 cards and uses bumps on the interior side walls to grip them from the side.
Looks the Part, but the Verdict Can Wait
I have yet to get my hands on this wallet, but honestly, it looks cool. Nothing truly remarkable, but it is affordable, it has a unique design, and it comes in a nice array of color options, with sage green, light gray and apricot orange on offer. What is not to like? I cannot comment on how it actually performs just yet, but hopefully I will have a full review of the Peeler wallet very soon.
