The Distil Union Wally Euro Wallet Review

Made with the finest leather the Distil Union Euro Wallet is a great example of functionality and simplicity. On first inspection, it might seem weird to see the inside of a wallet with nothing. No card slots or bill sleeve, nothing. It perplexed me too as my initial thoughts were they had wasted space. In reality, Distil Union is trying to strip back wallets and bring them back to their roots. They do this through clever design and ingenuity. When I used this wallet for a week I found it to be incredibly simple and a joy to use.

Distil Union is a brand that has been around for a while. They are best known for their innovation in the way you can store your coins and built some of the highest quality wallets on the market today. First founded in 2011 having much success in the early days of Kickstarter. From here, they’ve approached design challenges with a passion and based their range of products on their usability and helping make the lives of their users a little bit easier.

Look & Design

The Euro is available in 3 colors in black (ink), brown (hickory), and grey (slate) and is made from a rich full-grain leather (one of the highest quality leathers on the market). The build quality is the very highest from the initial unboxing and it’s clear this wallet is built to last with great stitching and clear expertise when it comes to its craftsmanship. When I used this wallet in practice I was very impressed with both its quality and ease of use. Its defining feature is definitely how easy it is to access your cash, cards, and change without struggling to shuffle through clumped up cards or folded up notes.

Overall, the design of the Wally Euro is incredibly attractive, well built, and at a reasonable size (9.1cm x 10.3 x 0.7 thin). I wouldn’t say this is the thinnest wallet I’ve ever come across built to accommodate the sheer amount of features the Euro has. I’m honestly not surprised and not disappointed. This really comes down to its incredible thinness which means it fits in a front or back pocket perfectly and can barely be felt when moving about or sitting down. 

Functionality & Utility 

The inside with its metal notes grasp works perfectly and, in my opinion, is the best way to store and access your notes. Although this type of note storage is nothing new (can be seen in Andar and Serman Brands) its larger size accommodates larger notes easier (great for me in the UK and for the use with Euros). Card storage is done through the side of the wallet using the Distil Union quick access slot. These have room for up to 8 cards and allow for easy access with just the pub of a tab.

On the other side is another slot dubbed the FlexLock (squeeze pocket). This pocket opens by squeezing on each side of the opening of the pocket which forces the slot open with a subtle and satisfying “popping” sound. Here you can store and access coins with ease. It really is a genius system that allows for storage and access of coins without the need for a zipper that would add unnecessary bulk.

Price Tag

You can get your hands on a Distil Union Wally Euro for $69.99. This is an interesting price for a wallet of this caliber. I don’t think it’s overpriced but in the same vein, I know many wallets on the market that are of a similar, or better price, that are just as good as this wallet. That’s not to say this isn’t a great wallet, but I say you should keep your options open when it comes to deciding on which wallet to get.

Overall a good competitive wallet great for those who want simplicity in a stylish looking yet functional bifold. Distil Union is also a brand that has a lot of good policies including a 1 years warranty on all wallets and a 30 days return policy (with T&C’s).
