TGT Quietly Drops Its First New Wallet Design in Over a Decade
TGT breaks a decade-long silence with a bold new chain wallet design.
TGT – pronounced “tight” – has just released a brand-new wallet design without fanfare, quietly slipping it onto their website for purchase. For followers of the brand, this is a big deal. Since its inception over a decade ago, TGT has stuck rigidly to its original minimalist wallet concept, refining materials and colourways but never altering the core design. Now, for the first time, they’ve broken tradition.
I have a personal connection to TGT. Back in 2016, their original minimalist wallet was the first slim wallet I ever bought. In many ways, it was the catalyst for me starting this very website. The simple elastic-and-leather combo was unlike anything else at the time, sparking my obsession with exploring wallet design and innovation.

The new TGT Chain Wallet retains that slim, compact spirit but takes it in a fresh direction. This isn’t just a tweak – it’s a reimagining. The most striking update is the addition of a chunky gunmetal chain, turning it into a wearable, around-the-neck or cross-body accessory. It’s a hybrid between a wallet and a small carry pouch, with more structure than their traditional stretch elastic models.
From the provided image, the wallet has a clean, understated black-on-black aesthetic. The front is a durable black woven textile flanked by leather-trimmed sides, while the back houses a full leather pocket for cards or folded cash. Inside, you’ll find a divided setup – one section for cards, another for notes – plus an internal zippered pocket for coins or small essentials. The gunmetal chain attaches via two sturdy swivel clasps, ensuring security and ease of removal.

The wallet is priced at £85, which is roughly $110 USD, putting it firmly in the premium minimalist wallet category.
For longtime TGT fans, this release is a surprise – and possibly a sign the brand is willing to experiment after years of staying loyal to its original formula. For me, it’s a strange full-circle moment to see the company that started my wallet journey push into new territory.
