SlimFold Launches Global Minimalist Travel Wallet on Kickstarter
SlimFold’s 8th Kickstarter combines precision engineering with minimalist design for travellers.
After helping spark the minimalist wallet movement more than a decade ago, SlimFold is once again turning to Kickstarter to launch its latest design: the Global Minimalist Travel Wallet. Built with international travellers in mind, this ultra-thin wallet manages to combine RFID protection, waterproof materials, a magnetic closure, and a discreet AirTag slot, all while remaining impossibly slim. It’s a project that continues SlimFold’s long-running mission of rethinking what a wallet can be, this time with a design that’s as versatile as it is travel-ready.
Minimalist wallet pioneer SlimFold has returned to Kickstarter with its latest project—the Global Minimalist Travel Wallet, a slim yet feature-packed design that accommodates international bills, AirTags, and more.
Founded in 2009, SlimFold has played a major role in shaping the minimalist wallet space. With seven successful Kickstarter campaigns already under its belt—and over 15,000 rewards delivered on time—the California-based brand has built a reputation for innovation and reliability. Now, the team is back for their eighth campaign, which has already surpassed its funding goal by raising over £13,500 with more than a month still to go.

The Global Wallet is designed to solve a common problem for travellers: the need to switch wallets when dealing with larger international banknotes. This new release is crafted to fit global currencies while still maintaining the impossibly thin profile SlimFold is known for. It can carry 8–10 cards, bills of all sizes, and even houses an Apple AirTag in a discreet central slot. By positioning the tracker in the middle of the wallet, bulk is evenly distributed, keeping it comfortable in-pocket.
Key features include a magnetic closure that keeps everything secure, built-in RFID protection, and a waterproof construction. At the heart of the design is Fusion™, SlimFold’s new composite laminate material that blends the durability of Soft Shell with the lightness of Tyvek. The result is a wallet that’s both strong and paper-thin, purpose-built for long-term use.

Production takes place in SlimFold’s San Jose studio, where the team employs precision techniques including laser cutting, computerized sewing, and 3D-printed jigs to achieve clean lines and intricate detailing. This in-house approach gives SlimFold tighter control over quality while allowing them to experiment with new design techniques developed through previous projects such as the Passport Wallet.
With the campaign now live and already exceeding expectations, the Global Minimalist Travel Wallet looks set to continue SlimFold’s reputation for pushing the limits of what a wallet can be.
