Ridge Unveils the Wallet 2.0: Lighter, More Modular, and Built for Life
The iconic minimalist wallet gets an 'upgrade' with a lighter build, & modular design.
Ridge has announced the release of its new Wallet 2.0, the next generation of its flagship minimalist wallet. The updated design brings several improvements, including a 10% reduction in weight, enhanced modularity, and refined visual detailing aimed at combining functionality with style. Let's take a closer look at the new Ridge 2.0 and see if these changes are any good and actually improve or enhance the Ridge Wallet in any meaningful way.
The Ridge Wallet 2.0 introduces a more modular system, allowing users to customise their setup with a range of updated Cash Straps, Money Clips, and AirTag attachments. As i’ve yet to get my hands on the Ridge 2.0, its hard to tell whether or not this provides any key or meaningful differences in terms of either look, feel or functionality. That being said ridge states it makes the wallet adaptable to different preferences and lifestyles, reinforcing Ridge’s reputation for sleek, everyday carry essentials that evolve over time. Althouhg, the original Ridge did indeed have the ability to swap in and out different accessories dependent on your needs so its unclear as to the differences between the original when it comes to attaching accessories at a breeze.

Aesthetic upgrades also feature prominently in the new release. The Wallet 2.0 includes oil-filled logos and a new plated Cash Strap designed to showcase distinctive finishes and artistic variations. These enhancements allow Ridge to expand its creative possibilities while maintaining the minimalist form factor that defined the original design.
The launch also coincides with the introduction of Ridge’s new Built for Life Warranty. This upgraded coverage extends beyond standard manufacturing defects to include loss, theft, and accidental damage. Customers can receive replacement parts for free or obtain full gear replacements at a reduced cost. Ridge describes the program as “Built for Life,” reflecting its long-term commitment to keeping products in use for years to come.
What Do I Think About the Ridge 2.0?
The Ridge 2.0 is something that im sure like many were excited about. The Ridge itself is 15+ years old at this point so its far to say it porbably could have done with an update and a little TLC. And that’s exctly what we got - a little. I’m not saying im dissapointed with the 2.0, but its clear that there’s very little wiggle room for improevemtns to the original design as to be polite the design is already simple and basic in and of itself.
But to be honest, the 2.0 really doesn’t provide anything signicant that could really warrent - for example - another review of the wallet. 10% lighter is fine, but that amounts to just 5.67 grams less of the orignial Ridge’s 56.7 grams weight - something that would be barely noticable if you ask me. Its what happens when a brand tries to make a mountain from a molehill - slight changes that at the end of the day make no real difference to the end user.

What all that negatively out of the way, the real winner and something prehaps ridge should be shouting about more, which is inpart connected to the release of the Ridge 2.0 - is their new Build it for Life Warranty. This is the real crux of what really exites me about this release. The Build it for life warranty is essentially what most companies would call a true ‘lifetime warranty’ where a brand doesn’t just protect your product against manufactuer defects, but will cover your item against all forms of damage including accidential damage.
This is big and it means the Ridge can now be considered a buy it for life item as regardless of how damaged it becomes, lost or stolen you can get it replaced. Please keep in mind through of the exact terms of this warranty. A Full Replacement under the warranty does have a so called ‘processing’ cost. For wallets $150 or under will cost you $17.95 while wallets over this price $27.95. Kind of puts a sour taste in your mouth and goes against the whole idea of a ‘warranty’ if you ask me.
Final Thoughts
The Ridge 2.0 provides slight changes to the already popular wallet that doesn’t really require a song and dance about. The more modular design has poetnial and it will be intertsting to see in the future how Ridge can use that to enchance the look and design of the wallet going forward. Aside from that, the only other aspect that warrents attention is their new and enhanced warranty which although isn’t free from a complete replacement is still a nice feature to have. Think of it more as getting a near 80% discount on future Ridge Wallets if yours was to break or get stolen - not bad really.
