The North Face Hazy Wallet: This Wallet Is Super Hard to Get
The North Face Hazy Wallet blew up on TikTok, then seemed to vanish from the internet. Here's why you can't find it, and how to actually get one.
TikTok and Instagram are a fantastic place to discover new wallets, and I'm always finding cool and unusual designs to write about. In the case of this wallet, one created by the ever popular brand The North Face, I was intrigued. Based solely on its design and details, it's a very attractive wallet, and other people seem to think so as well.
But for a wallet featured in a video I saw mere days ago, one with over 15,000 likes, I was surprised to find that I couldn't locate anything called the 'Hazy Wallet' anywhere on the internet. Well, that's a lie. eBay has a few listings, with a couple being sold for, how do I say, take the pee prices. So it's clear that either the Hazy Wallet has been and gone, or it's still around in some capacity. I had to get to the bottom of this.
What Is the Hazy Wallet?
What initially caught my attention regarding the hazy wallet was its unique design. In laymans, it’s a simple zip around wallet but its material is really what sets it apart from others being partly made from 100 denier recycled ROBIC ripstop nylon. Not a lot of these words mean nothing to be but nylon. That’s what gives the wallet its unique design.
It’s size, well it’s not the smallest wallet in the world (from the pictures anyways) but also not the biggest. It has an almost square shaped design which is unusual for a wallet as they’re most often rectangular in shape. Anyhow, its smallish footfriend still allows for great capacity, being able to hold around 10 - 12 cards, while packing a spill-resistant coin compartment, a zippered mesh pocket on the front, and a loop for clipping on a carabiner or lanyard.
I was also surprised to find the wallet available in a range of different colors as well including Black, Graphite Grey, Slate Grey, Tin Grey, Fallen Rock, Iceberg Green, Cognac, and Fossil Ivory. The official retail price is 4,290 yen, which works out to around $29.
So who’s it for? Anyone who wants the smallest possible wallet that still handles coins. It’s aimed at urban everyday carry, the person who wants to grab their wallet, clip it to a bag or belt loop, and forget about it. The North Face’s own product copy describes it as a lightweight compact wallet designed around “functional rationality in urban life,” which is marketing speak for “it’s small, it’s light, and it does the job.”
Hang on, though. Yen? That brings us neatly to the mystery.
The Investigation: Why Can’t Anyone Find This Wallet?
Here’s where it gets interesting. Search “North Face Hazy Wallet” from the US or the UK and you get almost nothing. It’s not on thenorthface.com. It’s not at REI, Zappos, or any of the usual suspects. No reviews, just one Reddit thread, barely a whisper. For a brand as enormous as The North Face, that’s genuinely strange. Wallets don’t just vanish from the internet.
My first theory was that it had been discontinued years ago and scrubbed from the catalog. Wrong. The wallet is from late 2024, so it’s practically brand new.
My second theory was that the TikTok video got the name wrong, and it was actually one of the North Face wallets we do know, like the Base Camp Voyager Wallet or the BC Wallet Mini. Also wrong. The Hazy Wallet is its own distinct product with its own model number, and it even has a sibling, the Hazy Pouch (NM82459).
The actual answer is a quirk most people don’t know: the North Face gear sold in Japan isn’t made by The North Face you know, the American one. The brand is operated there under license by a Japanese company called Goldwin, and Goldwin designs and produces its own products that never leave Japan. This is why Japanese North Face gear has a cult following among streetwear collectors. The Purple Label line, the Nuptse variants you can’t buy in America, and yes, the Hazy Wallet, all exist in a parallel North Face universe that the US and European websites know nothing about.
So the Hazy Wallet was never discontinued. It was never available here in the first place. It’s a Japan exclusive, sold through Goldwin’s official store and Japanese retailers like Rakuten, Yodobashi, Amazon Japan, and atmos. Mystery solved.
Availability: Can You Actually Buy One?
Yes, but it takes a little effort.
At the time of writing, Goldwin’s official online store showed all its listed colorways as out of stock, with a restock notification option rather than a discontinued notice. That’s a stock cycle, not a death sentence. Meanwhile, Japanese retailers have plenty of it. Rakuten alone had over a hundred listings, and it’s readily found on Yahoo Shopping, Amazon Japan, and Yodobashi, often discounted 10 to 30 percent below the 4,290 yen retail price.
For buyers outside Japan, the realistic routes are:
- eBay. There’s a steady supply of new-with-tags Hazy Wallets from Japan-based sellers who ship worldwide. This is the easiest option, and import fees are usually baked into the price.
- A proxy service. Services that buy from Mercari Japan, Rakuten, or Goldwin directly on your behalf will get you closer to Japanese retail pricing, though shipping and service fees eat into the savings.
The Verdict on Availability
To answer the original questions directly: the Hazy Wallet has not been discontinued. It’s alive and well, it’s just living exclusively in Japan under Goldwin’s stewardship. If you saw it on TikTok and fell for it, you can absolutely get one. Just know that the “second hand” market is really an export market, and price accordingly.
And if nothing else, this little wallet is a great excuse to fall down the rabbit hole of Japan-exclusive North Face gear. Fair warning: it’s a deep one.
