New Kickstarter Campaign Launches for Ultra-Slim Metal Wallet, STRATO
Ultra-slim metal wallet with blade system debuts on Kickstarter.
A new Kickstarter campaign has launched for STRATO, an innovative wallet that aims to rethink the classic bi-fold design by prioritising slimness, structural integrity, and modern aesthetics. Developed by Drosnt, STRATO seeks to address the bulk and weight issues often associated with traditional wallets while introducing a refined industrial design inspired by engineering and high-end watchmaking. Let's take a closer look at what this unique wallet can offer you.
STRATO’s defining feature is its ultra-slim profile. The wallet’s thickness is limited to 6 mm (for titanium and stainless steel) or 8 mm (for aluminium), making it only slightly thicker than a standard credit card when closed. This slim form factor is achieved through precision CNC milling from solid blocks of aluminium 7075 (“Ergal”), stainless steel AISI 304, or Grade V titanium. Each material was selected for its strength, rigidity, and corrosion resistance to ensure long-term durability without adding unnecessary bulk creating a highly durable all metal wallet.
To solve structural challenges posed by thinness, the team designed a radial framework with a skeletal, see-through aesthetic. This approach was inspired by the structural logic of watch movements, with the radial design providing mechanical support while reducing mass. Additional reinforcements were integrated to strengthen critical stress points without compromising the lightweight goal.

Development relied heavily on digital modelling and mechanical simulation. By testing designs virtually before building prototypes, the team was able to predict and mitigate deformations and weaknesses. This emphasis on engineering precision is at the heart of the project’s pitch to those who value thoughtful, purpose-driven design.
Beyond its minimalist form, STRATO also includes an integrated out-the-front (OTF) blade mechanism. This feature deploys a cutter/prybar tool using a three-component system designed specifically for the wallet’s slim dimensions. The blade itself is made from AISI 304 stainless steel for enhanced strength where it is most needed. Unlike many folding or locking blade systems, STRATO’s mechanism aims for simplicity and reliability without screws or welded parts, ensuring minimal mechanical failure points.

Functionality as a wallet remains central to the design. On the second side, a clip can hold up to 8 cards or around 10 mm of folded cash. The single-band layout allows for easy customisation of daily carry. Meanwhile, the dual see-through hinge design ensures smooth, precise opening and closing with minimal play, further reinforcing its modern aesthetic while maintaining practical usability.
The campaign is seeking to raise nearly $3,000 USD. As of writing, it has just gone live and has yet to secure its first backer. The creators invite design enthusiasts and supporters of unique, well-engineered everyday objects to back the project and help bring this slim, metal-crafted wallet to life on Kickstarter.

STRATO stands out for its unique design that prioritises structural clarity over decoration. The radial framework isn’t just visually striking - it’s a clever solution to thinness-related flex and durability issues. The use of high-grade metals like titanium and precision CNC milling speaks to its premium construction and long-term durability. Combined with its innovative integrated blade system and minimal yet functional card/cash clip, STRATO feels like a genuinely new take on what a wallet can be.
If you’re someone who appreciates thoughtful engineering and durable materials in your everyday carry, this is a campaign worth a closer look. They’re just getting started on Kickstarter and could use some support to hit that initial goal, so consider giving them some love if you’re in the market for something truly different.
