Mini Suitcase, Major Charm: Mink Launches Playful New Wallet on Kickstarter
A playful acrylic wallet styled like a mini suitcase, blending retro charm with everyday function.
In a market filled with sleek minimalism and carbon-fibre monotony, a fresh breeze of whimsy has just landed on Kickstarter. I'm always going to shine a light on those creatives taking risks and doing something a little different and this wallet ticks all the boxes in that regards.
Meet Living Out of a Suitcase, the first wallet release from Mink, a small design brand better known for their quirky enamel pins and collaborations with cultural giants like the British Library and Pollock’s Toy Museum. This wallet isn’t just functional – it’s a tiny suitcase that slips into your pocket.
Designed by Mink founder Martha, Living Out of a Suitcase is a compact, multifunctional wallet that riffs off the retro charm of 1950s compacts. Built from thick, marbled acrylic with gold-engraved branding and a playful suitcase-style handle, it offers more than just a place to store your bank cards.

The inside is lined with deep red velvet, fitted with a stretchy elastic band to hold cards and notes in place, and includes a generously sized mirror perfect for mid-commute touch-ups. It even fits two standard lipsticks – or anything else you like to keep handy that standard wallets just don’t accommodate.
Despite its boutique feel and unique design, the campaign has launched with a humble funding goal of just £500 – a reflection of its designer-led, indie spirit rather than lack of ambition. Martha says the wallet is a step toward a new phase for her brand: creating playful, high-quality objects that balance practicality with personality.
Backers looking for something different – part statement piece, part functional carry can check out the campaign now via Kickstarter. With early-bird rewards still available, this could be your chance to swap your ‘dad phone case’ wallet for something a little more expressive.
