Discommon is back with its 3.0 Version of Their Cult Wallet
A bold redesign of the cult-favourite wallet sees Discommon return with smarter features, premium materials, and zero tolerance for mediocrity.
Back in 2016, I had the chance to review Discommon’s original thermoformed wallet—a sleek, stitch-free design that quickly became a standout thanks to its bold aesthetic, playful polka dot pattern, and striking colour combos. Now, nearly a decade later, Discommon returns with version 3.0: a refined, re-engineered take on their cult classic. Let’s dive into what’s changed, what’s improved, and why this new iteration might be their best yet.
After a long hiatus, Discommon is back with a fresh iteration of one of their most talked-about products—the thermoformed wallet. First introduced in 2016, this stitch-free, ultra-slim wallet gained a cult following for its bold design, precision engineering, and refusal to compromise. Now in 2025, Discommon returns with version 3.0, promising smarter features, refined design elements, and the same uncompromising attitude that made the original a standout.
The new wallet retains its iconic thermoformed silhouette but comes re-engineered with a premium top-grain nappa leather exterior and a microsuede interior. Gone is the RFID-blocking layer—scrapped in pursuit of better durability. “Fuck mediocrity,” the brand states bluntly, a statement that perfectly captures the Discommon ethos.

One of the major design upgrades is the addition of a “Flip Lip”—a subtle contour that allows for effortless one-handed access. The card pockets have also been reshaped to improve card retrieval, making the wallet easier to use without adding any bulk. Still, the wallet sticks to its minimalist roots, with two snug pockets that comfortably hold three cards each.
Colour options include Tan and Mango, Black and Oslo, and Grey and Ruby—combinations that highlight Discommon’s flair for design-forward aesthetics. Retailing at £84, the 3.0 wallet blends luxury materials with practicality, targeting those who want premium without pretension.
For reasons unclear—but definitely amusing—the site also offers a bulk listing of 1,000 units for £34,000. Whether that’s aimed at resellers or just included for fun is anyone’s guess.

Founded by Scottish designer Neil Ferrier, Discommon has long thrived on doing things differently. From consumer electronics to architecture, their industrial design work spans industries. With the return of their most iconic item, it’s clear they haven’t lost their edge.
I’ve not had a chance to get my hands on the 3.0 Discommon Wallet yet, but hopefully soon i’ll be able to get my hands on it and give it a test drive. If it’s anything like their original wallet then i’m in for a real treat and if you’re looking for a wallet with something a little different about it then I can confidently say this is undoubtedly a great wallet and a real head turner.
