Double 00 was founded in October 2015 by Jan Alessie and Alejandro Rodiles, two entrepreneurs based in Spain. The design was inspired by a wallet Alessie spotted in a small Roman street shop years earlier; when the shop closed, he and Rodiles redesigned and upgraded it with premium materials. The brand name nods to Ian Fleming's 00 secret service agents, with the wallet positioned as the kind of accessory James Bond himself would carry. Every wallet is handcrafted in Ubrique, Andalucia, a Spanish mountain village with twenty centuries of leatherworking heritage, using a layered elastic system instead of stacked leather to keep the wallet exceptionally light.
