Flowfold was founded in 2010 by Charley Friedman in Maine, with origins dating back to 2005 when Friedman, then a high school student working at a Maine sail loft, sewed his first wallet from scraps of racing sailcloth after his grandfather's leather wallet fell apart. Co-founder Devin McNeill joined in 2011, and the brand has since grown from a single wallet, the Vanguard, into a wider range of wallets, backpacks, totes, dog gear, and accessories. Every Flowfold product is made in the USA at the brand's Gorham, Maine workshop, and the company partners with 1% for the Planet, donating 1% of sales to environmental causes. Flowfold's products are now stocked by L.L. Bean, EMS, REI, and Backcountry.
